[Pivot] Prototyper Project Manager

Building 8 is seeking a contract Technical Production Assistant. The Technical Production Assistant assistant will support a team building the hardware and software for an augmented reality platform. We are looking for a hands-on TPA to help with prototyping demonstration installations and providing administrative support.

Responsibilities

 

·        Investigate and validate input modalities/technologies through research and prototyping  

·        Prepare presentations and report on progress at internal meetings.     
·        Preparing and publishing decks based on independent research and internal studies
·        Designing, installing and carrying out studies with internal and external users
·        Assisting new hires with onboarding through equipment acquisition and identifying specific needs   
·        Coordinating intercampus moves and installation of sensitive demos and equipment
·        Handling of incoming and outgoing shipments of equipment and prototypes 
·        Communicating effectively with engineers, designers, and teams working on parallel paths during testing and implementation
·        Work with user researchers to coordinate testing efforts, interpret test results, and incorporate results into design efforts

·         Ordering computer, audiovisual, and electronic equipment

·         Installing and configuring hardware, software, and electronics equipment for working demos

·         Building out simple 2D and 3D plans, and coordinating purchase of fixtures for demo spaces

·         Quickly prototyping, or coordinating the prototyping of fixtures and equipment and spaces

·         Managing equipment inventory

·         Coordinating meetings

·         Maintaining accurate notes and documentation for projects

·         Working with external vendors and partners

    ·         Troubleshoot and repair test equipment

    ·         Document operating procedures and bill of materials for ongoing projects.

    ·         Maintaining confidentiality of all appropriate communications and documentation

 

·         Incredibly organized and detail-oriented

·         Able to prioritize multiple assignments

·         Hands-on and comfortable handling complex computer and electronic equipment

·         Experience working with spaces, installing audiovisual equipment and furniture

·         Experience with machine shop equipment and power tools

·         Excellent communication skills via all means of communication

·         Strong scheduling and calendar prioritization skills

·         Able to thrive in a fast-paced atmosphere

·         Experience or interest in entertainment, gaming, virtual reality, or augmented reality industries

·         CAD skills, Solidworks, Sketchup, coding skills, electronics prototyping

·         Excellent interpersonal and inspiration skills

·         Visual design skills, think conceptually and critically about design

·         Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work well in a collaborative team environment

·         Proficiency with Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator
