[PIVOT] ERC Data Scientist

In this role, you will support the research scientists of Facebook’s Election Research Commission in the ongoing development of the Condor research platform and associated data integrations. Specifically, this entails the maintenance of existing datasets, as well as the development of novel datasets and APIs.

You will need to engage with research topics and cover new domains quickly; build deep expertise with Facebook data and tools; apply high standards to the research code around you and develop an ability to identify highly impactful projects in a complex and unexplored domain. You will gain valuable experience in computational social science and differential privacy, publish academic papers and help push forward the understanding of social media’s impact on democracy.





  1. Employ data validation techniques to ensure the quality of datasets.

  2. Scale data pipeline capabilities and streamline ETL processes.

  3. Develop computational microservices and APIs to complement the core research platform.

  4. Review academic literature and implement described methods.






  • Programming skills: Python for data analytics (must), SQL for data engineering (must), R Studio (good to have);

  • Software Engineering skills: Ability to design and develop programming libraries and standalone microservices.

  • Mathematical skills: Solid understanding of probability and statistics.

  • Familiar with GitHub, JupyterHub, Jupyter Notebook, Scikit-Learn, Pandas, Scipy, EMR, Spark and AWS cloud architecture;


Bachelor's or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Science, or Data Science
