Technical Project Manager (TBD)

Duties


The Portal team brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. We have a clear mandate to ship products at scale. In particular, seemingly impossible products that define new categories and that advance Facebook's mission of connecting the world. In this role, you will be responsible for driving operations & logistics for large scale internal beta testing of Portal products. The right candidate is a self-motivated leader who possesses strong product sense, has demonstrated experience working closely with cross-functional teams, and has exceptional communication and collaboration skills.

 

 

  1. Lead cross-functionally to define schedule, requirements, resource plans, integration plans, prioritize initiatives, and proactively identify/address potential setbacks.
  2. Work with software engineering to deliver SW solutions/features in a fast-paced environment.
  3. Balance the business needs with technical constraints by building deep subject matter expertise for your area.
  4. Maintain the team's focus on strategy and goal-oriented results when tackling complex problems.
  5. Communicate program status, risks and mitigation plans to executives.
  6. Ensure project documents are complete, current and available for review by all parts of the organization.
  7. Provide day-to-day coordination and quality assurance for operations-focused projects and tasks
  8. Review operational issues and determine if a technology solution is required or a process correction using techniques like use cases, data diagrams and process flow diagrams
  9. Collaborate closely with a project coordinator to maintain a clearly documented project that can be followed internally throughout the lifecycle of a project
  10. Prepare project correspondence and presentations, as needed, for status reports, stakeholder updates, meetings, annual planning, etc
  11. Proactively communicate project and timeline risks to stakeholders along with trade-offs to maintain trajectory
  12. Effectively manage global inventory with audit processes for asset management
  13. Instill a vision and culture of prototype security throughout the relevant organizations
  14. Coordinate with key partners (Legal, Security, Logistics, Facilities, etc.) to support new and ongoing projects
  15. Effectively influence leaders and key partners to gain alignment

 

Skills


  1. Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
  2. 5+ years of tech industry experience, including 5+ years of program management experience.
  3. Knowledge of software design – starting with a systems level comprehension from the hardware and operating systems to frameworks.
  4. Software/Hardware integration experience in a consumer electronics environment.
  5. B2B or B2C experience in commercial hardware or software and launched a B2B/B2C product in the market.
  6. Experience building and managing relationships with vendors and other external partners in conjunction with Legal and Business Development.
  7. Experience understanding and communicating technical information to non-experts.

Education


  1. Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
