On Instagram, ads is one of the many ways that people discover and connect with products and services they might love, but we want to make sure we're driving value for people by connecting them to the kinds of products and services they care and help them engage with these businesses and products seamlessly, without disrupting their app experience.

Instagram is looking for a Product Researcher to understand people's experience with and needs for ads, gleaning insights to drive product direction and strategy. For this position, we are looking for a range from specialists to methodological generalists, with broad skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods.

The right candidate will be excellent communicators, knowledgeable about user experience design and research, comfortable in a flat, fast moving organization, excited to collaborate, and passionate about Instagram and understanding ad experiences. This position is based in our Menlo Park Office.

Responsibilities

  • Design research studies that address behavior, attitudes, and needs of consumers on Instagram
  • Generate insights that fuel ideation and evaluate designs
  • Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative methods and quantitative methods
  • Work cross-functionally with design, product management, data science, engineering, marketing and content strategy
  • Communicate results and illustrate suggestions in compelling and creative ways


Minimum Qualifications
 

  • 5+ years experience in applied product research
  • Command of qualitative and user-centered design methods, from ethnographic to usability to survey design and analysis
  • Ability to ask, as well as answer, business questions
  • Experience communicating with internal stakeholders including but not limited to Product Managers, Designers, Product Marketers, and Engineers
  • Can work independently and prioritize time between multiple projects, and be flexible by adapting to changing schedules and different projects
  • Previous experience in ad industry, e-commerce, business research, or as a consultant a plus

MA/MS /Ph.D in Human Computer Interaction, Psychology, Social Science or a related field
