Facebook seeks a highly motivated litigator who has taken a meaningful career break for personal or other reasons and is looking to participate in a 6-month program designed to help attorneys “onramp” back into the legal profession. In December of 2015 the core Federal Rules of Civil Procedure were amended to increase the requirements for preservation and eDiscovery in civil litigation. Working with the eDiscovery & Information Governance team will provide the Reconnect Lawyer the perfect opportunity to quickly learn and apply these new legal requirements and strategies in their future practice. You will assist the eDiscovery & Information Governance team advise inhouse and outside counsel on novel and pressing issues of disclosure law and strategy.
The ideal candidate is a skilled attorney and a natural communicator who can work closely with teams throughout Facebook to guide and advise on eDiscovery and information governance issues. You will have the opportunity to work with legal and business partners to develop world-class and cutting-edge solutions as well as assist on specific civil matters ranging from employment, to IP, to general litigation. The candidate should have great intellectual curiosity and a desire to invest time and energy into learning and growing as a subject matter expert. You should have excellent judgment and comfort operating in a fast-paced environment.
Apply eDiscovery law and strategy when advising inhouse and outside counsel on active litigation, regulatory, and investigation matters.
Meaningfully contribute to and execute strategic plans for eDiscovery and information governance companywide.
Contribute to the design and implementation of eDiscovery and information governance best practices including templates, workflows, and policies.
Rapidly identify, analyze and address issues, and distill complexity into simple and concise communication in cross-functional settings.
Work collaboratively with the eDiscovery and Information Governance Team members, case teams, business partners, outside counsel, and vendors.
J.D. degree and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
5+ years of work experience at a law firm, government agency, or inhouse with a focus on litigation
Experience managing complex projects
Experience coordinating with a variety of audiences, including legal, technical, and policy teams, and communicating across cross-functional partnerships
Strategic thinker with analytical and problem-solving experience
Well-developed organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to think under pressure, both individually and in a team environment
